State Of Free Culture
From Florida Free Culture Wiki
The local chapters need help getting started, but they are popping up, and they are doing well.
Locals need to toss flyers up on line at FreeCulture.org that can be used to help recruitment at the other chapters. This will make it easier to share the information and ideas, and the material will help startup.
URGENT: What do we do about FreeCulture.org? What does the Board of Directors do? They draft bylaws. How do we do things at a national level? Only the web team is productive.
Goal 1: Help locals start up, and help locals get speakers, grants, funds, and resources.
FC.o needs a Speakers Bureau to maintain a list with contact information, cost, labor, and act like a booking agency. This can be not just for schools, but also for others looking for EFF contact information, for example.
Over the summer, we need to organize an activist packet and do research into changing policy at schools and local communities. FC.o needs to do top-down encouragement, national education, and national rule-making. To educate the general public, we need lots of local presences. For an anti-DRM day, we'd need a natinal organization as the coordinator.
We need to divide the country into regions, and have regional coordinators. However, right now the regions would be concentric circles of Boston, the Northeast, and everybody else.
We need to make an organizational chart, and we need more volunteers. The blog team should be full, and write up the news about the organization. The FC Reddit is having problems with irrelevant articles.
We need to sort the list of names and organize the mailing list. We need to keep track of volunteer hours for grants for the national organization, which could be done with a wiki.
People can't just randomly vanish. They need to be reliable. People need to get their bios up on the website, and the next member of the Board of Directors needs to be very detail-oriented.
