Open Art is an art show to be presented in the Reitz Union gallery on the 2nd floor of the Reitz Union.

Dates:

  • Monday, February 5th - Invitation list due (email addresses), the press release date
  • Monday, February 12th - Artist's statement due, title card changes
  • Sunday, February 18th - Installation
  • Monday, February 19th - Opening Day
  • Thursday, February 22th - official reception (with food and music)
  • Friday, March 2nd - End
  • Saturday, March 3rd - Take-down date

Open Art, presented by UF student group Florida Free Culture, will showcase works by local artists and others. Open Art aims to introduce artists and audience to Creative Commons licenses, which help artists share their work. All works exhibited will be available for download and, where permitted by the artist, remix/reuse or commercial use. This "open art" will remove barriers to culture and creativity and help artists find a wider audience.
