[edit] Gavin's thoughts
It is imperative to recruit new members every year. I recommend aggressive recruiting in the beginning of the Fall, with some additional efforts in Summer B (if possible) and the beginning of the Spring, and ongoing visibility.
It is similarly important to retain members, which consists of:
- attractive programming, efficient meetings, good scheduling & logistics
- good internal communication & publicity
- strong social ties, internal cohesion, welcoming environment
- selective benefits

Attendance:
Pres. John Nile
VP Gavin Baker
Treas. Mark Sisley
??? Eldo ???
For the next budget cycle, we're allocations again.
Activities:
Recruitments:
Gavin: We should table more
Eldo: We have 2 more members coming next year
John: /agree with Gavin. We should table every month a few nights before CopyNight.
John: Also, we should switch our meeting schedule to once a month (because there's not enough material for members), and exec meetings twice a month.
Gavin: Extra tableing at the beginning of the semester. Once a week, maybe. Also, at the law school, because we want law students.
Eldo: We should prod the Alligator to advertise InstallFest.
John: Weeks of Welcome, we need to sign up.
Gavin: WoW gives grants, we could apply to get moneyz.
John: Patrick, go do that shit.
Patrick: Mmmk.
John: I'll look out for IDEAL Student Organization fair (takes place in the first 2 weeks of school).
Software Freedom Day - September 15th
Eldo: Will look into it.
John: Last time we cooperated with GatorLUG.
Gavin: Last year, we did Free Your PC that same week.
John: We need to have meetings before, because we were pretty disorganized this year. So I'll talk to the GatorLUG people about setting up email.
Gavin: Last year we did it kinda far from campus (at Books A Million), so maybe we could hold it closer.
John: I think it's cool that we do it off campus, because none of our events are off campus.
Gavin: Except CopyNight
John: Oh, well yeah, but that's like, right here.
Eldo: Florida Book Store might let us do it there, but that might exclude non-students.
Gavin: We should probably do it... anywhere but Books A Million, because it was pretty lifeless there.
Eldo: Farmer's Market downtown?
Gavin: No A/C...
