Open Art: photography, digital and visual art show

Open Art was an art show presented in the Reitz Union gallery on the 2nd floor of the Reitz Union. Opening day was Monday, February 19th and the reception (with food and music) was Thursday, February 22nd from 7:00-9:00pm. The show ran until Friday, March 2nd. The art was showcased online simultaneously.

The playlist of music for the reception is here.

Open Art 2007 is now completed! A huge thanks to everyone who submitted art work for the show. We’re already beginning to think about Open Art 2008, so keep on creating!

Open Art, presented by UF student group Florida Free Culture, will showcase works by local artists and others. Open Art aims to introduce artists and audience to Creative Commons licenses, which help artists share their work. All works exhibited will be available for download and, where permitted by the artist, remix/reuse or commercial use. This “open art” will remove barriers to culture and creativity and help artists find a wider audience.

So, we send you the site for you to view our photos. Do we then print them, back them, matt them and frame them to bring them in?

This is the first time for me, so please help me with this.

Hi, my name is Kelsey and I am interested in writing an article about the Open Art installment in the Reitz Union gallery. Is there anyone involved in this project that would be interested in being interviewed tomorrow, Monday, February 26? If possible, I would like to speak to an organizer and/or an artist. If so, please contact me by e-mail at kesleymc@ufl.edu.

    Thanks!
