UAEM journal club: IP, research, and public health

UF student group Universities Allied for Essential Medicines is hosting a journal club series. The monthly discussions will review scholarly literature on the subjects of intellectual property, research, and access to medicine. The presentations are aimed at a general audience, hoping to appeal to undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty in fields such as medicine, law, public health, and political science. The first meeting of the journal club will be Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6 pm in the Reitz Union’s Bryan Lounge (room 123). Meetings will be held on the second Thursday of each month in locations around campus. For more information, visit the UAEM Web site.

Free Culture will be tabling at the Student Organization Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 10 am - 3 pm on the Reitz Union Colonnade. Come say hi!

Software Freedom Day - Sept. 16

Free Culture and GatorLUG present Software Freedom Day, Saturday, Sept. 16. Software Freedom Day is a global effort to educate the public about the virtues and availability of free and open source software (FOSS). In Gainesville, we’ll be at Books-A-Million near the Oaks Mall (6111 W. Newberry Rd.) from 10 am - 3 pm with a display. Come try out the latest FOSS programs and take them home for free, browse the selection of FOSS-related books, pick up free stickers and information, and have your questions answered by local IT experts.
