Area Reps. Stearns, Brown vote against Internet freedom
Both of Gainesville’s Congressmen, Cliff Stearns (R-06) and Corrine Brown (D-03), voted against Rep. Ed Markey’s Net neutrality amendment in the House of Representatives yesterday (Final Vote Results for Roll Call 239). This means the Communications Opportunity, Promotion, and Enhancement (COPE) Act, HR 5252, passed the House without adequate provisions to protect Net neutrality.
The Save the Internet coalition has vowed to continue to fight for Net neutrality in the Senate.
