FFC calls for student seat in IT decisions
In a letter to the editor published in Wednesday’s Alligator, Florida Free Culture president Gavin Baker called for student representation on UF’s Information Technology Advisory Committee, or ITAC.
More than 20 university committees have student representatives who sit with university decision makers and voice student concerns. If students can guide decisions on everything from housing to affirmative action, why is information technology any different?
Read the whole letter online here.
Free Culture hopes this letter will draw attention to the lack of student representation on ITAC and encourage the creation of one or more student seats.
I hope to meet with Associate Provost Hoit soon to discuss the situation. I’ll let you know how it goes.
