UF Has a Jabber Server
I didn’t know this until now, but apparently UF runs its own Jabber server. (Jabber is an open source, open protocol instant messenging service. Try it with Gaim on Linux or Windows, or Adium on Mac.)
There’s a chatroom for library questions. If you’ve never used Jabber before, instructions are here. If you already have a Jabber account, connect to room library on server conference.jabber.ufl.edu. The room is open Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
For more information about the UF server, see the Open Systems Group Web site.

We should have a room/channel freeculture on that conference server.
And we should get people to use jabber.
